The Creative Entrepreneurial Brain
My name is Kenji Oshima (CPCC if you care), and I'm a Project Strategist and Coach. I hope to bring some fun and learning to the weekend by presenting an interactive workshop called "How To Focus Your Creative Entrepreneurial Brain (just don't call it ADD)." I believe that we can define our life by our own standards. We can choose to live this one, precious life we've been given, with integrity, passion, and joy (and not by someone else's rules); because when you get to the top of the mountain, is that the peak you want to be shouting at the world from? It seems the Universe's Plan for me is "to understand," as I've earned my own self-prescribed PHD in philosophy from the School of Hard Knocks (or as my good friend likes to call it: The University of Crazy).
As a mid-life gay, biracial, invisibly disabled man, whose lived, loved and survived decades of lessons, I'm here to be of service as a coach, strategist, geek, and mentor. I came from the model of 'something's broken' or 'wrong with me', which wasn't useful; and in relying on my natural strengths, talents, and tenacity I've come, in six years, from living in an attic in San Francisco's most violent neighborhood, to tripling my income with 3 employment streams that I love (and I live in a beautiful, quiet, studio with my awesome self!). And, I've created all of that while living with CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue) for the past 20 years. I'm also a spoken word performer, writer, graphic designer, mentor, wheelchair designer, and non-denominational altar builder.
I received my initial coaching training from Kate Kelly and Paul Ravenscraft; Kate is the co-author of the world famous ADD self-help book "You Mean I'm Not Stupid, Lazy, or Crazy?," Paul her business mate and life partner. Then the Coaches Training Institute (in Marin), gave me their professional stamp of approval (certification). But, my greatest teacher has been life's lessons, which have helped hone myself into the compassionate trainer that I am, by using spiritual education (Buddhism, 12-Step, and emotional recovery) to teach me what's important in life (love, fun, and service)..
